Tuesday Shoesday // 1

The Basic Black Pump

I'm starting this Tuesday Shoesday with a basic that every woman should have in her closet. The basic black pump. The pump has been around since the mid 1500's. "From the sixteenth century it has gently waltzed back and forth, it's heel rising and falling as style dictated, complimenting rather than overpowering trends." (A Year in Heels, Camilla Morton)

There are many different styles and shapes to the basic black pump. If you're going to only own one pair, you want to find the best shape that compliments your style. Personally, I love pointed toe pumps, but not an exaggerated pointed toe in a 1995 way.

A basic black pump serves as a backdrop to a great outfit. It can complete a formal gown, top off a professional suit, or my personal favorite, elevate a casual jeans and sweater combo, like I did today.
