How To: Change Your Look With One Simple Step

Today I wanted to show how shoes can transform an outfit. On a day when you have multiple things going on, you don't want to have to change. Wearing a simple outfit that can work for both casual and more dressed up occasions, and just switching shoes is an easy way to get through your day.

For the first set of pictures, I was going to visit my nephew at his elementary school for a presentation he had. Rolling up my pants and wearing blue flats makes this outfit a colorful, laid-back look.

Shoes: Forever 21
Afterwards I had interviews at a couple places, so I changed into my pink heels. The pink pops against my teal pants and it's a great way to remain looking casual, but still look chic and fashion-forward.

Primary

Tank: Wet Seal // Sweater: Aero // Skirt: Kmart // Shoes: Crocs // Earrings: Gift // Bracelet: JewelMint // Watch: Betsey Johnson
Well, I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day! I had an interview this morning at DSW and then I met up with my mom and Bob at the Monona Memorial Day Parade. After that, I spent the day cleaning up the basement.

Sometimes I just like to keep an outfit simple and bold. Last fall I had a big obsession with primary colors. Since then I haven't worn the color combination very much (probably due to overwear-age), so it was fun to give it a summer spin.

Spring Wedding

Dress: American Living // Shoes: Forever 21 // Sweater: Forever 21 // Belt: Forever 21 // Earrings: Claire's // Bracelet: JewelMint // Watch: Betsey Johnson

This weekend my and Garrett's good friends, Andy and Brittney, got married. The wedding was in Ashland, which is very, very northern Wisconsin. While it was a little chilly, it was still a beautiful place to get married.
I bought my dress last year in hopes to wear it to a wedding last spring, but after some last minute plan changes, this dress has been sitting in the back of my closet just waiting to be worn. I was so happy to finally pull it out and let it be seen!

Beige, Black and White

Tank: H&M // Striped Tank: Wet Seal // Pants: Discovery // Shoes: Missoni for Target // Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters // Earrings: J. Lo // Ring: Forever 21 // Bracelet: JewelMint // Watch: Betsey Johnson
Sometimes a great outfit doesn't require color at all. These shoes can be difficult to match with, so I usually have to great an outfit around them. Said outfit normally involves this striped tank. I think I need to branch out more.

Grunge

Shirt: Hot Topic // Pants: Target // Shoes: Boston Store(?) // Necklace: Maurice's // Earrings: Borrowed from my mom // Bracelet: JewelMint // Watch: Betsey Johnson
My mom called this my grunge look, which took me back to 1994 when everyone was wearing ripped jeans and flannel shirts. I wasn't really old enough to be wearing "grunge" clothes in the 90's, but I was definitely old enough to remember it. And now that it's back in style, it just makes me feel older. Now I know how my mom felt when the 80's came back. I guess nothing is really new again huh?

Yard Sales and Birthdays

Dress: Hot Topic // Shoes: Crocs // Earrings: J. Lo // Bracelet: JewelMint // Watch: Betsey Johnson
Today was a long but eventful day. It was Monona's annual yard sale weekend, so this morning my mom and I went rummaging. I found a ton of awesome clothes! I'm so excited to have some new sewing projects.
Then, this afternoon we had a big party for my mom because today she turned 50! We had everyone over and it was beautiful outside. Such a perfect day! Here are some pictures of me and my mom:

Happy Birthday Mom!

All-Stars

Dress: American Eagle // Shoes: Converse // Sunglasses: Rue 21 // Bracelet: JewelMint // Watch: Betsey Johnson
The other day I found a bag of clothes and shoes that I was planning on getting rid of. In it I found my black Converse All-Stars. Sometimes it's good to pack up things you don't wear anymore and then hide them for a while before coming back to them. It's like free shopping. Why I ever decided to get rid of my black Converse is beyond me.
So, I cleaned them up, replaced the shoe laces and they are (almost) as good as new. Then I wore them with my favorite thing to pair with them, a dress. Do you wear Converse? What is your favorite thing to pair with them?

Last Day in Point

Top: Target // Jeans: Vanity // Shoes: Target // Necklace: From Africa // Bracelet: JewelMint // Watch: Betsey Johnson // Sunglasses: Target
Oh I am so happy to be taking outfit pictures and blogging again! These pictures are from the other day, my last day in Stevens Point. I decided to make it a little extra special, and go to my favorite spot on campus. In the ground, there is a giant sun in this open area, we call it The Sundial. And behind my is the side of the Natural Resources building. This spot is one of the things that drew me to Stevens Point five years ago.

I have a little tendency to get boho chic when the weather gets warm. Last fall, I had given away pretty much all of my flared jeans because I wasn't wearing them anymore, but then I found these at a thrift store for $5 a couple months ago. And then my obsession with jeans started again.

Blogging Hiatus

I just wanted to update everyone and let you know I will not be blogging for the next week or so. I am in the middle of my last week of classes and finals are next week, so I will be spending my time focusing on them. Not only will I be living in leggings and drape-y tanks, but I don't want to have to bother Liz to take my photos, as she has finals of her own. I can't wait to be done with school and able to spend more time on here. You guys are great! I miss you already!

One Pair of Pants: Two Ways

The other day Karen gave me a bunch of her old clothes, including a pair of "jeggings". This is my first real pair (aside from my corduroy jeggings) so I thought they would make a good multi-wear post.

The first is my casual wear. Since they are ultimately leggings, jeggings are super comfortable. I paired them with a sweater and flats for a pj's-in-public-esque outfit for going to the salon with my mom Saturday morning.

Later that night, I had a bachelorette party to go to, so I used this opportunity to show how you can dress up jeggings. Skinny jeans are great for a going-out-but-still-dressy look, and with jeggings, it's even easier to get into them! Plus, when mixed with boots, you can barely tell they're jeggings.

How do you normally wear your jeggings? Dressed up or casual?

Anniversary

Dress: Hot Topic // Shoes: Payless // Ring: Gift from Garrett // Bracelet and Earrings: JewelMint // Watch: Betsey Johnson
Yesterday was my and Garrett's two year anniversary. On our first date we went to the Milwaukee Art Museum, so we decided to go there yesterday. The feature exhibit was called "Accidental Genius", which is a collection of art by untrained artists. While the actual art wasn't my favorite, the biographies were really interesting. Next month, they are featuring turn-of-the-century, French posters, so we'll definitely have to go back for that!

And for your viewing pleasure:
