Inspiration: Taylor Momsen

Source
Tomorrow, Garrett and I are going to see The Pretty Reckless in concert. If I had to name my top four favorite artists, they would be right up there. (In no particular order: Paramore, Kate Voegele, She & Him, The Pretty Reckless) TPR is more on the edgy side and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity broaden my horizons a little in fashion.

Let me make something clear right away. I in no way, shape, or form agree with Taylor Momsen's attitude and the way she lives her life, but I also don't believe in judging an artist if the music is good. What she does in her own time is her choice, I have no opinion on the matter. (Well I do, but it's irrelevant here.)
I also don't think her style choices are really appropriate for life in general (no, stockings and a garter belt do not count as pants), but that is why we call them fashion inspiration, not "fashion I want to copy exactly". (You are more the welcome to google her outfit choices in more recent times, I won't be posting them on here.)

That being said, I still haven't decided what I'm wearing tomorrow so I turned to Pinterest (of course!) for inspiration. Taylor Momsen's last year on Gossip Girl would be my favorite look of her's. Very edgy/rock n' roll but still put together and a little glammed up. A few things I found:

I am having fun playing dress-up in my closet and trying some outfits I wouldn't normally wear. Who knows, maybe the rock n' roll look will work for me and I'll just start doing it full time! (Joke.)

Blogging Vacation

Tank: H&M // Brown Tank: Wet Seal // Jeans: Urban Outfitters // Shoes: Target // Watch: Betsey Johnson // Earrings: Forever 21
Last week, I decided to take a short blogging-and-social-media vacation. Which, of course, when I came back yesterday I had over 200 unread posts on bloglovin' and a lot more spam mail in one of my inboxes. Anyways, I really wanted to step away from the computer a bit and think about what I really want out of my blog. What do I hope to accomplish on here? Sometimes you have to just step away from the computer and go back to the good ole pen and paper for inspiration, which is what I'm planning on doing. (This idea stemmed from this article by Promise.)

On a more fashion-related note, these jeans are the bee's knees (yes, I just said that)! I want to wear them all the time, everyday. The only thing holding me back is the fear of losing the surprise element when I put them on and you realize exactly how bright they are.

Ketchup and Mustard

Tank: Wet Seal // Jeans: Rue 21 // Shoes: Payless Shoe Source // Watch: Betsey Johnson // Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters // Camera Purse: Epiphanie Bags - Lola
I've read on other fashion blogs that when you pair red and yellow together, you have to title it "Ketchup and Mustard". I'm not really sure if that's true, but since I had no better idea for a title, then why not? I usually stay away from this color combination for fear of that exact concept coming to mind whenever someone sees me, but I just couldn't resist today.

My Mom, the Trendsetter

Shirt: Wal-Mart // Jeans: Target // Tank: Walmart // Shoes: Target // Purse: Jason Wu for Target // Watch: Betsey Johnson
I just realized that my outfit is a department store dream. Ha.

My mom is a trendsetter and she doesn't even know it. Growing up, on weekends I always found my mom wearing jeans and a lighter shade, denim button-up shirt. I never thought of this as "stylish" or even thought much of it at all. It was just her casual wear. Little did I know, she was way ahead of the game because look at me now, wearing jeans and a lighter shade, denim button-up shirt. Lesson learned: listen to your mother.

Spring Calling

Tank: Target // Skirt: Banana Republic // Shoes: Target // Watch: Betsey Johnson
I wonder how many titles I can make with the word "spring" in it? This is my essential spring outfit. It's my favorite form of pattern mixing (stripes and florals) and the soft colors just sing spring!

Spring Break

Dress: Delias // Shoes: Crocs // Belt: Thrifted // Sunglasses: Rue 21 // Watch: Betsey Johnson // Daisy Ring: Boston Store // Earrings: From Cassie
What a way to start my spring break! No assignments for the week, 70+ degree weather, complete awesome-ness. I plan on spending the week packing (my mom and Bob move at the end of the month!) and reading a book. A real book! I'm (re)starting A Game of Thrones. Has anyone read them? What did you think?

I want to wear this dress everyday when the weather is nice. It's the perfect color, shape, material. I love accessorizing it for different looks. I love seeing what colors I can mix and match with it. As of now, I plan on wearing it to The Pretty Reckless concert at the end of the month. Do you have a new favorite item for spring?

A Perfect Day

Dress: Candies (Thrifted) // Shoes: Target // Belt: Garrett's // Necklace: From Cassie // Sunglasses: Target // Hair Clip: Kmart // Watch: Betsey Johnson
Yesterday was a perfect day. Garrett had off of work and I only had one class, so he came up for the day. We went out to breakfast, to an antique store (where we found two amazing vinyls, The Beatles' first album, and Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy), and on a picnic in the park.

I am so happy with this weather! It got up into the mid-70's yesterday meaning this was my first official sundress of the season!

The Mane Event

Jeans: Target // Top: Wet Seal // Shoes: Crocs // Watch: Betsey Johnson
This title was completely stolen from Elizabeth over at Delightfully Tacky. I have cut my hair this short before, but then I had started growing it out again. Then the other day I was thinking about it and looking through old photos, and I decided that this cut is most flattering on me. I almost had my long hair back, and I wasn't dreaming of putting it up anymore. I wasn't looking at girls with long hair with envy. And I realized that short hair is for me. It feels lighter, curlier, healthier.

On another note, when Liz and I took a walk through the nature preserve to take pictures, we found this:

It just really makes your day, doesn't it?

A Kristine Post

Shirt: H&M // Skirt: Thrifted // Belt: Charlotte Russe // Shoes: Urban Outfitters // Watch: Betsey Johnson // Headband: Shabby Apple
This is a total Kristine or Polly post. The outfit was planned, as Kristine is the master of pattern mixing, but after I looked at the pictures, I realized that my poses were definitely Kristine-esque too.

Saturday, I spent some time with my mom and Bob, planning room colors for the house they just bought! They are moving at the end of the month. We also got to play with some of their photography equipment while taking my photos. Then on Saturday night, Garrett and I saw The Artist. It was so good! I think it definitely earned the Best Picture Oscar.

So, who is totally loving this weather? It's been in the 60s all weekend and it's supposed to stick throughout this week. I know it's only the middle of March and rather unlikely, but I really hope the warm weather sticks.
